About Us

Welcome to Honeysuckle Way.

We are a small team of experienced designers and freelancers. We love to collaborate, dream, and compose floral works of art.

Each bloom is selected with consideration of its intended placement and contribution to the overall atmosphere of the day, and how it serves a sustainable environment and local economy. Many of our flowers are harvested from our own gardens and nearby farms during warmer months. We also rely on further away sources for some specialty blooms and during cooler months.

We practice sustainability by actively composting all organic waste back into our gardens and by reusing or recycling materials whenever possible. We avoid non-organic pesticides and floral foam (which contains toxic ingredients & non-biodegradable plastics that are harmful to living organisms). Avoiding floral foam also conveniently lends towards a more subtle and naturalistic design aesthetic.

By choosing Honeysuckle Way, you are choosing to support local businesses and a healthy environment.

 Meet our team.

Andrea Ault

I love flowers as much as a challenging hike or Maine island bike ride. From growing up on a quiet New Jersey street, called Honeysuckle Way, I first moved to Maine to lead trail building crews after graduating college. While hiking across picturesque wilderness, I fell in love with Maine’s wild beauty and unmatched atmosphere.

Trail work eventually led me to farming and Broadturn Farm in Scarborough, ME, where I developed a passion for flowers. Farming and floral design became my ideal blend of creativity with the natural world. In 2014, Honeysuckle Way was born when generous friends offered me use of their land. I started a flower farm, named it for my childhood street, and began growing for farmers’ markets, CSA shares, and weddings.

Over the years, my passion, and thus Honeysuckle Way, has evolved to focus primarily on floral design for weddings. Along with the farming expertise of my husband, Jon, we continue to keep flower gardens to supplement our arrangements, although much of our energy is channeled into the creative process and offering custom, unique wedding designs.

From farming to design, our mission has remained much the same: to create beauty in tune with nature and the changing seasons, with reliance on local product and sustainable practices.

I first fell in love with flowers in my grandmother’s garden. She would tell me their names, and sometimes their stories, and let me pluck my favorites to put in tea cups for tiny bouquets all over the house. I ended up going to school for fashion, at the Savannah College of Art & Design, where I learned to use color, textures, and shapes as a form of visual communication.

However, instead of jumping into a fashion career, I began gravitating back toward flowers. For the next 3 years, I worked all over the East Coast, until I ended up at Honeysuckle Way, where I can use my design skills in a way that feels gentle and natural, and lets me bring joy, peace, and a little extra love to people’s special moments.

Outside of flowers, you can find me floating on a tube in a lake, somewhere in Maine.
